Field of Study: Nursing and Medicine
Nursing is a broad field filled with a variety of specialities. This could be anything from working in the emergency room, helping perform surgeries, assisting cancer patients, and much more. Within this broad profession includes the study and the use of medicine. Medicine is used throughout the medical field, and is now known as an essential part of everyday life. There are many different careers involving medicine. These careers would include researching, that would allow others to have enough information in order to create medicine, those creators would then have the medicine be sold and distributed by an abundance of professionals. Such professionals include doctors, nurses, pharmacists, medical salespeople, and many more. Some of these mentioned professionals are also those who diagnose, assist, and care for those in need of medicine (6). These professionals allow people to have the luxury known as medicine to give those in need a second chance that may not be possible without modern medical practices. Doctors and nurses are able to help the sick by providing care and assisting in the cure of their patients, participate in rehabilitation, provide needed support, help prevent future illness and injury (6). Without these essential workers, the world would be a much different place.
Medicine has impressive capabilities, allowing not only humans, but other animals a chance to be healthy. While medicine can be seen as just pills, the term includes much more than that. Medicine is known as the science and practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. With this being said, medicine can be interpreted in many different ways, but it is also a main component of the healing process. Recently, Maggot Therapy has become a popular part of medicine and the healing process for many medical patients. Maggot Therapy is the controlled use of live blow fly larvae (also known as "maggots") to treat skin and soft tissue wounds (5). This new, innovative wound therapy is able to connect the world of insects and medicine to create an effective way to heal those in need.
